Getting started with PulseAsk

From install to your first survey response in about 2 minutes. No code, no theme changes.

Launching summer 2026. PulseAsk is not on the Shopify App Store yet. Want in before launch? Email us for early access and we'll get you set up.

1. Install the app

Once PulseAsk is live, you'll install it from its Shopify App Store listing like any other app: click Install and Shopify opens the app inside your store admin. Until then, early-access merchants receive a direct install link by email.

2. Approve the permissions

During install, Shopify asks you to approve two permissions:

  • Read orders — this is what makes PulseAsk different from a simple poll. Each survey answer is linked to the order it came from (order ID, order value, date), so the dashboard can show revenue attributed to each channel, not just response counts.
  • Write metafields — PulseAsk tags each order with the channel the customer selected, so you can use the answer elsewhere in Shopify (order filters, reports, flows).

PulseAsk only reads what it needs for attribution. See the privacy policy for details on what is stored and how deletion works.

3. Activate the default survey

The app opens with a ready-made survey: "How did you hear about us?" with the most common channels pre-filled — TikTok, Instagram, Google, YouTube, Podcast, Friend/Family, ChatGPT/AI, and Other with a free-text field. Click Activate. That's the whole setup.

You can customize the question and options later — see Configure your survey. You don't need to before going live.

4. Where the survey appears

PulseAsk uses Shopify Checkout UI extensions, so the survey renders natively in two places:

  • The thank-you page, right after the customer completes checkout — the moment response rates are highest.
  • The order status page, for customers who come back to check their order.

It shows one question at a time, matches your checkout's look, is dismissible, and adds no code to your theme. The widget is available in English and French.

5. Watch the first responses come in

Place a test order on your store and answer the survey on the thank-you page. Then open the PulseAsk dashboard in your admin: the response appears with its channel, and the order is tagged. From there, every real order feeds the dashboard — responses by channel, revenue attributed by channel, AOV per channel, and your response rate. See Read the attribution dashboard.

Migrating from Delighted or Fairing? You can import your existing survey history via CSV so your attribution data starts with context, not from zero. Guide: Import data from Delighted or Fairing.
